Ian Hardie (tune writer and fiddler with the Ghillies and other Scottish groups) has explored the connections between Scottish fiddle styles and the Appalachian tunings during several musical trips to the U.S. The cover notes show the tuning used on each tune. Ian has composed many of the tunes on the CD and with 14 superb sets of tunes on this CD it is highly recommended for both Scottish and old-timey fiddlers
