Evandale Tasmania
A quirky celebration of concertina, button accordion, mouth organ, jaw harp,
musical saw and gum leaf at this quirky button box and free reed music festival

This weekend festival featured workshops, sessions, concerts, bush and folk crafts, the national
button box championships and much more. .
They came from all over Tassie and some adventurous souls travelled down from the northen isle. There were the young, the old and the very, very old.
There were many highlights
with the biggest being the number of box players from Tassie who thought they
were the last of their breed since
their dances became less
popular.
Another feature was the National Box Championship. All tapes of the event were destroyed in the sake of nation interest. Outstanding were the sense of humor and the playing standards. Winner was Malcolm Brown from Hobart - and he is still smiling.
This National festival will
be happening annually in Richmond starting 2009
